This Week in Rotary

We had the pleasure of welcoming Joanne Wakelin from Hato Hone St John to our meeting last night. Joanne presented an excellent, interactive session showing Club members how to do CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
If you come across someone who has had a cardiac arrest (their heart has stopped), ensure your own safety first and then start the 3 Steps for Life:
1. Call 111
2. Start CPR
3. Use an AED
Applying CPR and an AED can increase a patient’s survival chances by up to 40%. However, for every minute waiting, a patient’s chance of survival falls by 10 -15%. Acting immediately is critical to saving a life.
The 111 call operator will be able to tell you if there is an AED close to your location. However, you can download the AED Locations app on your phone so that you are ready to help in an emergency.
We highly recommend a session with the amazing personnel at Hato Hone St John to ensure you are ready to help someone in an emergency. Book your session today.
Thank you, Joanne, for giving up your time and expertise to upskill our members.
