Plains Rotary Presents Donations on Christchurch Visit
Plains Rotary members enjoyed a rewarding day on Monday as a group of members and their partners travelled to Christchurch to present two donations on behalf of the club.
The first stop was the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust, where members handed over proceeds from the Plains Rotary Classic Car Run held in April. The group was given a fascinating tour of one of the rescue helicopters, complete with a demonstration of the life-saving equipment used during emergency missions. The visit also included a look through their operational base, including the Flying Doctor aircraft hangar, offering insight into the scale and professionalism of their service
The second donation was presented to the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, in support of their Ranui Apartments. The Trust provides essential accommodation for patients and their whānau who must travel to Christchurch for life-saving treatments. The group was warmly hosted by Jodie, who gave a guided tour of the apartments and explained the vital role they play in supporting patients during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Members were deeply impressed by both the quality of the facilities and the compassionate care offered by the Trust’s staff.
Plains Rotary is proud to support these two outstanding organisations and extend heartfelt thanks to both teams for the meaningful work they do in our wider community.
