Rotary Scholarship Supports Future Doctor

Members of the Rotary Club of Ashburton Plains were pleased to welcome Emily Elliott to a recent meeting, where she spoke about her studies and her ambition to become a doctor. Emily was accompanied by her mother and enjoyed an evening with the Club.

Emily was the recipient of a $1,000 Rotary scholarship, which will assist her with the costs of pursuing her medical studies at the University of Otago.

Now in her second year of the medical programme, Emily has a further four years of study ahead of her before completing her qualification. She spoke about her educational journey, beginning at Ashburton Borough School before progressing to Ashburton College.

During her time at Ashburton College, Emily was a school leader and achieved excellent academic results. Her hard work and dedication enabled her to gain entry to the University of Otago, where she is now working towards her goal of a career in medicine.

Members enjoyed hearing about Emily’s experiences and future aspirations and were delighted to be able to support a local student as she works towards achieving her goal of becoming a doctor.
